Botanists believe that its fruit is actually its flower, it is a flower that used to be closed from all sides but there are seeds inside it and some small insects go inside it to perform pollination and help to ripening seeds. The tree of Timul is of medium size in which the twigs are grown after some distance from the root and the fruit also starts from the root of the tree and continues on every twig, its fruit is first green then after ripening it becomes red or brown, Its leaves are quite large, because of this, Timul is called “Elephant Ear Fig” in English, due to the large size of the leaves, they are used as animal feed. Timul is nutritious as well as full of medicinal value. the ripe fruit is also considered a better source of glucose, fructose, and sucrose which does not contain fat and cholesterol, fiber is also found in much more quantity than other fruits. In the proportion of the weight of the fruit in the Timul, glucose is found up to 50 percent, which is a good source of calories. Timul also contains phenolic elements with bactericidal properties with various nutrients. The antioxidant present in it neutralizes toxic free radicals in the body. Due to its properties, it is used as the main ingredient in many products in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and bakery industries. Research in the chemistry division of the Forest Research Institute (FRI) revealed that there are four fatty acids in Timul oil that are possible to treat other diseases including cancer, traditionally used to prevent many physical disorders in Timul. According to the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Science Review Research, for the prevention of serious diseases like diarrhea, wound healing, cholera and jaundice, Timul is better quality than commercially produced apple and mango, along with weight gain and potassium. Being a better quantity, it also controls blood pressure by reducing the side effects of sodium, according to a study by Wealth of India, protein in Timul is 5.3 percent, carbohydrate 27.09 percent, fiber 16.96 percent, calcium 1.35, magnesium 0.90, potassium 2.11 and phosphorus.
