Manduva has an important place in the traditional crops of Uttarakhand, Manduva grown in the mountainous region of Uttarakhand is not only a treasure trove of nutritious but also rich in medicinal properties, due to having enough nutrients it also helps in preventing malnutrition. It is known in other states of the country by the names of ragi, Nagli, and Koda, etc, today Manduva is in great demand in market it is used for biscuits, roti, pudding, namkeen, Cake-like products are being prepared, but in past, it was a great means of a balanced diet for the people of Uttarakhand. It has a higher nutritional value than rice and wheat due to its high calcium, fat content, and fiber. Consumption of excess fiber, protein, amino acids, and minerals is beneficial for patients with diabetes. Maduve is cultivated in the rainy season.
